Bath & Body Works is sorry for selling candles in packaging that some say looks like Ku Klux Klan hoods.

The 3-wick candle was called “Snowed In” and briefly appeared on sale on the company’s website. Once the issue was brought to Bath & Body Works’ attention, it was quickly removed from the website.

The image on the packaging was supposed to be a snowflake cut out of paper. The outer edges of the snowflake are white and cone-shaped, with two holes cut near the center.

“I’ve never seen a snowflake look like this,” one said Instagram user commented.

“It wasn’t an accident,” said another.

But others felt differently.

“This is just a poorly executed project that should not have been approved,” one Instagram user countered.

“It’s a paper snowflake. I wouldn’t look at it and think it was a racist candle,” said another.

A Bath & Body Works spokesman said in a statement Monday that the error was unintentional and that the company is committed to correcting it.

“We apologize to anyone we offended and are working quickly to remove this item as we evaluate our next process,” the spokesman said.
