(Reuters) – Meta Platforms (NASDAQ :)” Facebook and Instagram stopped working on Monday for thousands of U.S. users, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.com.

As of 1:44 p.m. ET, more than 8,000 people had reported issues on Facebook and more than 4,000 reports of issues on Instagram, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from multiple sources.

Downdetector’s numbers are based on user-submitted reports. The actual number of users affected may vary.

Meta Platforms did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Earlier this year, hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users around the world experienced an outage lasting more than two hours due to a technical issue.

At the peak of the outage, there were more than 550,000 disruption reports on Facebook and about 92,000 on Instagram, according to Downdetector.
