The earthquake occurred at a depth of 136 kilometers (km) near the following cities: 32 km west of Focşani, 56 km north of Buzau, 80 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 90 km east of Braşov, 94 km southwest of Bârlad and 98 km northeast of Ploiesti.
The most important earthquake of this year, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred in Buzau district on September 16.
