Apple announced A new iPad mini on Tuesday, offering the first update to its smallest tablet since 2021.

The new iPad mini comes with a faster A17 Pro processor, the same chip that was in last year iPhone 15 Pro. This means it supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s new suite of solutions artificial intelligence functions which will slowly begin rolling out to users this month.

During company third fiscal quarterApple showed the strongest growth in the iPad segment, which grew by about 24% year-over-year after launching several new iPads for the first time since 2022.

Apple’s smallest iPad has attracted a legion of fans who appreciate its more portable 8.3-inch screen for reading books or taking notes. The iPad Mini supports the latest Apple Pencil Pro, which was launched alongside the iPad Pro earlier this year.

Prices start at $499, are available for pre-order now, and will be released on October 23.
