BRAZIL (Reuters) – Brazil’s federal police are expected to complete an investigation by November into former President Jair Bolsonaro’s alleged links to a coup attempt after he lost the 2022 election, a source with direct knowledge of the investigation told Reuters.
According to the source, signs of Bolsonaro’s involvement in drafting the decree invalidating the election results will be reinforced by additional evidence collected by federal police after the issuance of search and seizure warrants as part of the investigation.
Bolsonaro’s lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The former far-right president has always denied any wrongdoing.
