WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told the Wall Street Journal he would impose additional tariffs on China if China “moves into Taiwan.”
“I would say, ‘If you go to Taiwan, I’m sorry I’ll do it, I’ll tax you 150-200%,'” Trump said in an interview with the WSJ published Friday evening.
When asked if he would use military force against China’s blockade of Taiwan, Trump said it would not happen because Chinese President Xi Jinping respected him.
