Van Der Beek, 47, told People magazine that he recently received the diagnosis and started treatment.
“I have colon cancer. I specifically came across this diagnosis and took steps to treat it,” he said. actorVan Der Beek added that he was optimistic and felt good after the treatments he received.
Colon cancer is a condition that occurs in the lining of the colon and can progress if left untreated, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Men are more prone to this disease than women, and increased preventive checks have reduced mortality rates thanks to early detection.
