According to Reuters, 19 people were injured in central Israel after a missile was fired

CAIRO (Reuters) – Nineteen people in the Sharon region of central Israel were wounded, Israeli police said, after the military said three missiles were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory early on Saturday morning.

The country’s emergency service earlier said seven people were injured in the central Israeli city of Tira.

The Israeli military reported that sirens sounded in several areas of central Israel after the missile was fired. He added that some missiles were intercepted.

“A falling missile has most likely been identified in the area,” the army added, noting that details were being investigated.

The national ambulance service and local media reported that Tira’s injuries were light to moderate, and two other people suffered symptoms of stress.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq later said in a statement that it had fired drones at a “vital target” in northern Israel. It was not immediately clear whether the group’s actions were related to the injuries.

Fighting in Lebanon has escalated dramatically in recent weeks between Israeli forces and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
