So it was fitting for Trump that his campaign team scheduled a visit, later this week, to the Bitcoin-friendly New York City bar PubKey. According to the bar’s official account, Trump bought 50 smash burgers and Diet Coke for those in attendance, costing a total of $998.77 including tax and tip, and then paid for it all in bitcoin. Fox News posted video of the entire event, prompting a reporter from CryptoSlate to quickly point out that Trump’s role consisted mainly of standing at the counter while the attendants actually make a transactionpassing smartphones between them. Whatever. The bar crowd cheers. “Crypto burgers!” Trump says as he hands them out. A voice off-camera corrects him, “Bitcoin burgers!”
