According to a recent Bloomberg report, Elon Musk has contributed to America PAC, a group working to re-elect Donald Trump. The donation is described as ‘sizeable,’ which marks a significant shift for Musk, who previously had positioned himself as politically independent and hesitant to engage in Politics.
Musk Backs Trump At A Critical Time
Musk’s backing of Trump is critical. Trump has surpassed President Joe Biden in fundraising, benefiting from wealthy Wall Street and corporate donors. Musk’s involvement could further bolster Trump’s campaign, offering a significant financial advantage. In his earlier statements, Musk explicitly denied donating to any Presidential candidates in March. Therefore, this has sparked debates over his true political intentions.
In May, he also denied that there had been talks over a potential advisory role for him in any Trump presidency.
The America PAC has already spent $15.8 million on field operations, digital media, and voter outreach efforts in key battleground states. The PAC is expected to release its donors list on July 15.
Trump And Musk’s Complicated Relationship
Notably, the former US President and Musk have clashed in the past but Musk has also advised Donald Trump on electric vehicle policies. Musk has mentioned that Trump occasionally calls him ‘out of the blue’. The connection along with Musk’s recent financial support indicates a growing alliance between the two. Musk’s alliance could significantly impact the US 2024 Elections.
Trump last month restated his pledge to immediately abandon the Biden administration’s mandate to support the electric vehicle industry. But he had claimed to be a big fan of electric cars and a fan of Musk.
Musk also stated that while they had some conversations and Trump is a huge fan of the Cybertrucks referring to Tesla’s electric pickup trucks, he has not made any formal endorsement in November’s contest and Trump has said he did not know if he has Musk’s support.
Musk’s AI Expectations
In another development, Musk in his X post hints that AI is far from being a threat and claims it to be ‘strawberry fields forever’. In the wake of OpenAI’s new developing reasoning tech, Strawberry, his statement has radiated confidence in AI’s potential for the future.
