Google Cloud’s standard SDK tools seamlessly performed strategic implementation across continents, making it much more difficult to protect the stability and security of the blockchain. The Tezos Foundation was ready to deploy new archiving nodes in new geographies shortly after using Google Cloud infrastructure. They created large nodes, each containing more than 1 TB of data, in just two hours. Additionally, using the Cloud SDK command line tools, they also implemented a snapshot service in three days.
The Tezos Foundation decided to improve network security and data processing and deployed archiving nodes in the Google cloud. These nodes maintain a complete record of all previous transactions and states of the blockchain. Chris PINNOCK, chief information officer at the Tezos Foundation, attributed this to Google Cloud’s efficient deployment mechanisms for archive nodes around the world. He also mentioned Filestore for working with big data and quickly setting up monitoring tools such as uptime checks, which are critical to verifying the functionality and security of a system.
Global node distribution is critical for disaster recovery and business continuity as it allows organizations to easily recover systems in case of a disaster. This ensures that a damaged node can be easily repaired using data from other nodes in different geographical locations. In addition, the Foundation values the ability to select data centers that have minimal impact on the natural environment.
