Are track bikes good for commuting?
It’s totally doable to commute with a track bike and have fun doing it – I’ve been riding mine for about 4 years and I’m loving it. Brakes – Whether you are riding fixed or single speed get 2 brakes as riding fixed with a rear brake will help give you confidence to spin fast but slow down comfortably and confidently.
Why do track bikes have no brakes?
A track bike has no brakes because braking would cause a pile up. When a fixie on the road has no brakes it is because someone is being macho. They will insist they can stop just as quickly or they can always see the road and path ahead.
How fast do track bikes go?
The maximum speed for experienced and extremely well-trained cyclists can reach up to 20-22 mph. Velodromes push these limits to the extreme with maximum speeds of nearly 60-70 miles per hour based on a velodrome’s shape and structure.
