Investing.com – The UK share market closed higher on Thursday, as gains in the and sectors led indexes higher.
At the close in London, the price was up 0.67%, reaching a new three-month high.
The best performers of the session were: Initial Rentokil PLC (LON :), which rose by 8.77%, or 29.90 points, to close at 371.00. Meanwhile, Melrose Industries PLC (LON:) added 4.01% or 17.30 points to close at 448.80 and Information PLC (LON:) rose 3.93% or 31.80 points to 841.00 in the final session.
The worst performer during the session was Mondi PLC (LON :), which fell by 7.45%, or 103.50 points, to reach 1,286.50 at closing. Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:) fell 2.14% or 73.00 points to close at 3,340.00 and United Utilities PLC Group (LON:) fell 1.85%, or 20.50 points, to 1,085.50.
Shares rose by 1,031 to 745 on the London Stock Exchange, with 688 ending unchanged.
Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.58%, or 15.65, to $2,706.95 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, the price of crude oil for November delivery was unchanged at 0.00%, or 0.00, at $70.39 per barrel, while the December Brent crude contract fell 0.13%, or 0.00 0.10, reaching a price of $74.12 per barrel.
GBP/USD remained unchanged from 0.10% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP remained unchanged from 0.40% to 0.83.
U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.21% to 103.61.
